The internet is full of wanna-be educators looking to get famous and rich by teaching others many, many things. If you want to know how to fix a leaky faucet or how to bake a cake there is no lack of people trying to show you how. The same is true in photography and its ancillary topics such as: post-processing software, what gear to buy and where to go on a photographic trip. The people who stand out in both their knowledge of the subject they are teaching and their ability to clearly, and concisely explain what they are attempting to teach are really few and far between.
In the first 10 Education blog posts I introduced fellow JCC member to some of my favorite photography/post processing teachers. During the first half of 2021 we were still going through the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. For that period of time the amount of online classes, tutorials and ZOOM get togethers was at an accelerated pace. Now it appears that the online effort has slowed down considerably yet some of the large camera retailers are getting into the online seminar business.
I have discovered that Samy’s Camera, a west coast camera emporium, B&H Photo, a New York City outfit, and others have a series of free online photography and post processing online training sessions. B&H also has a series of “expert tips” on YouTube. Those tips can be found here. I certainly hope my fellow JCC members find these tutorials and tips worthwhile.
