The Central Vault is a source of information for those using the website to create contest in association with their JCC duties. It is designed to be a center of information that is shared both from the webmaster and the users themselves. If used correctly this also provides an efficient method for transfer to subsequent holder of the position.
If you wish added security for your vault please feel free to password protect it within the post editor in WordPress.
This page will contain information common to all users.
The following Vaults are planned. Red indicates a WIP and not ready to be turn over to the owner. Green has been turned over to the owner and becomes a link to that vault.
N. B.: The Vaults of individuals are posts that are set to "private" in WordPress. The author of these is the website user so designated. Only site Admin and Editors can see or edit your Vault. If you wish another level of protection you may password protect your Vault.
Table Plugin Tables by Supsystic has been deleted as of 12/22/2018
Created by Webmaster on 8/13/2018— updated on 12/22/2018 Reco: Delete note or move to WS history on 12/31/2019
- The plugin, Tables by Supsystic is being replaced by the plugin, TablePress.
- Please take the following action for tables being created for 2019:
- You may export a copy of the 2018 table and import that copy into the plugin: TablePress. This will make it easier to create the new table for 2019 since the formatting will transfer over. Just edit the new table with the 2019 data.
- Those tables without a responsible person will be converted by the Webmaster.
- You may use TablePress now if you wish to create a new table.
- Please do NOT create any new tables with the to-be-deleted plugin, Tables by Supsystic
A screenshot of the schedules page has been made to give you access to the information from 2018. Please click here to download this pdf.
The function to download the individual sheets in the old program Supsync produces corrupted files—Proving we were moving at the right time. Sorry for the inconvenience
JCC Upload Central
The JCC Image Upload Central is a page located under Nexus on the Members Menu. This is the location from which members can upload images to Google Drive for a myriad of reasons/functions. You may see the current upload functions that are set up.
This function was managed by a plugin named, Drop it to Me and later another plugin named, CloudWok. Both of these companies have closed as of 3/31/2018. This has led to a lot of confusion because the instructions and interfaces were constantly changing. We are now using the upload function of Google Forms within Google Drive. These Google forms only support upload if the user is logged into a Google account
If you are the primary user of one of these functions then you will have access to the backend of the account. A tutorial on this is planned. In the meantime do not hesitate to ask any questions of elements of the tutorials on YouTube or the Google help function are not clear.
Image Size Reminder
- The size of a "Featured Image" in blog posts is 450 px X 300 px.
- The full width of a blog page without a sidebar is less than 1200 px.
- Use over 1200 px width only for full page width with Beaver Builder. One example is the header image of the Jekyll Island outing and the home page image. This is rare.
Testing Links in Google (Drive or Photos)
It is very common for the creator to test a link to G Drive and find it works fine. Then someone else test it and it does not work at all.
The most common issue is permissions. Best to set permissions so that anyone with the link can view. If you fail to do this and test the link it will work for you as the logged-in owner of the account but it will not work for anyone else.
The solution is to always test your links from the position/condition of your user. That is, log out of G Drive and then test the links.
Blog Post Excerpt Reminder
- The purpose of an excerpt is similar to a teaser on a newscast. Just a couple of lines to inform and help the reader decide if they want to read the complete text. When you go longer it causes problems in the design layout.
If you have one of the jobs listed above then you have access to the website in a capacity to add content. You have a separate username that takes the form: JCC-XXnnn.
You also have an Avatar that takes a form similar to this:
Please note the following:
- Do not change the Avatar.
- Do not change the Name of the User. It is the position title not your personal name.
- You may change the password upon receiving the username.
- You may change the email associated with the user. WordPress does not allow email addresses of users to be duplicated. That is, one email address may not be used on multiple user accounts.
- You are responsible for maintaining your Vault.
- You are responsible for turning over your username to the next holder of your office.
- Use this account only for JCC business. You should not use it to enter contest, etc.
