A Photoshop Class in B&W
2023 has been very sparse in online free educational events. However, on August 24, 2023 at 3:00 PM EDT Blake Rudis, a very informative trainer, is having a free one-hour seminar on Black and White Conversion in Photoshop. He writes:
Black and White Conversions are not exactly as "black and white" as you'd think. All Black and White Conversion Methods will yield different results. Some are better than others, some are easier than others, and some can get quite convoluted. But at the end of the day, nothing compares to Photoshop for incredible Black and White images.
I know what you are thinking! What about ______ program, whose sole purpose is to create BW images?Any BW conversion program is more than likely using underlying techniques that can be done in Photoshop. So why bother using Photoshop, then? Because you know EXACTLY what is happening to the tones and colors without some program doing it for you.

Another Photoshop Virtual Summit coming in late October
As many of the JCC members will remember during the pandemic and following there were multi-day training sessions on both Photoshop and Lightroom. In fact there have been four Photoshop Virtual Summits since 2021. Now there will be a Fifth Photoshop Virtual Summit coming on October 30 - November 3. The way these summits have worked in the past is that the classes are online for 48 hours so that one can watch them at their leisure and then they are no longer available. If one wants perpetual access, one can sign up for a fee for the entire multi-day seminar. If you have signed up for any of these seminars (free or paid access) in the past, I can guarantee that you will get emails when the signup becomes available. So you might want to keep these dates available to spend some time in front of your computer getting some training.
