The first meeting of December 2016, was held at Shepherd of the Woods Retreat Center, 6595 Columbia Park Court, Jacksonville, FL 32258-2414.
Business Meeting
Gordon Ira, President, called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.
Gordon Ira reviewed the dates for upcoming competitions, outings, and events.
Gordon Ira discussed the following:
–The Club Christmas Party will be held on December 10 at Bronwyn’s home. Sign up and directions are on the website. Bronwyn suggested participants consider disposable serving utensils.
— The LPIG is cancelled for December and January. The next meeting will be on February 22nd. Rick Hartmann will bring his granddaughter and a friend.
— Jim Jordan is continuing to accept reservations for the Annual Banquet.
Julius Dean stated that there will be a presentation of F3C digital and print winners, at the Annual Banquet. Members who have won in 2016 should submit digital images to him by December 20th. He stated that there will be an F3C Conference and Trade Show in March 2017, in Ft. Meyers.
Craig Shier, incoming Vice President, stated that there are a few openings for programs in 2017. He is still accepting images for the program on the Shenandoah Valley Outing, but requests that anyone planning to submit images contact him soon.
Charise Tanner presented a 1st Place ribbon to Bronwyn Horvath, for a previous digital competition. Charise handed out copies of a PSA article, recommended by Dr. Cook at our recent seminar. Charise requested that candid images from any 2016 Club event be sent to her, for a presentation at the Annual Banquet. Charise announced that the 1st Quarter Digital results has been moved to March 15th.
Jan Vallely discussed upcoming Outings. There will be a Jekyll Island outing on January 14th. There will be an outing to McKee Botanical Gardens and Blue Cypress Lake, near Vero Beach, February 24-25. Jack Stephens and Caroline Peppiatt will arrange boat rentals. There will be a Cumberland Island outing on March 31st. Jan has purchased tickets for a motorized tour; those interested should contact her and purchase a ticket.
Programs at next meetings: The Christmas Party is on December 10th. The January 4th program will be Shenandoah Outing highlights.
People’s Choice Contest: Kim Pitcock announced tonight’s winners: 3rd – Kim Pitcock , 2nd – Duffy McCoy, and 1st – Tina Jordan. The theme was Food. The theme next month is Holidays. Tina Jordan will lead People’s Choice in 2017.
50/50: Mary Hoskins won $29 in the 50/50.
Bragging Rights: Kim Pitcock sold several photos to individuals.
Guests: Janice Nieman and Pete Gonzalez visited tonight.
New Members: None.
Program: Bronwyn Horvath presented a program on a trip to Antarctica taken in 2015.
