JACKSONVILLE CAMERA CLUB
MINUTES OF MEETING # 17 – SEPTEMBER 7, 2016
The first meeting of September 2016, was held at Shepherd of the Woods Retreat Center, 6595 Columbia Park Court, Jacksonville, FL 32258-2414.
Business Meeting
Gordon Ira, President, called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M.
Gordon Ira reviewed the dates for upcoming competitions, outings, and events.
Gordon Ira discussed the following:
— Prints for the next Quarterly competition can be turned in at both September meetings.
— Digital images can be submitted until September 16th.
— There will be an outing at Washington Oaks on September 17th. Sunrise will be at 7:10 a.m.
–The Cracker Day Celebration Outing will be on October 15th.
— The LPIG will meet on September 29th. Images from the last meeting are in a Post on the website.
— There is a new Post on the website regarding the Shenandoah Valley Outing in October.
— The Club was contacted about photos for the reunion of the Navy ship USS Rankin. Ed Wright and Brian Leonard will take part in this. There is potential for the Club to be involved with other military reunions in the future.
— Gordon will be absent the second meetings of September and October.
A Committee to nominate officers for 2017 was nominated and approved. The Nominating Committee includes: Bill Coppedge, Brian Leonard, Craig Shier, Gail Means, and Duffy McCoy.
Julius Dean presented the following F3C digital competition awards: Jack Stephens, 4 Blue Ribbons, Don Dymer, a Blue and a Yellow Ribbon, Keith Garrett, a Blue Ribbon, Caroline Peppiatt, 2 Yellow Ribbons, and Duffy McCoy, a Yellow Ribbon.
Julius Dean stated that the F3C print competition is open until October 5th. He stated that the details for submitting prints in this competition are on the F3C website. Julius also announced that the F3C is seeking individuals willing to be speakers or judges.
Don Dymer discussed three shirts, in different fabrics, that could be used as Club Logo shirts. Members gave feedback on their interest in the different shirts. Don will continue to explore this project.
Young McQueen, Webmaster, stated that home page image can be changed every 4 to 6 weeks, and any member can submit images to be considered for this. He stated that members can contact him if they are having log in issues. He encouraged Members to explore the process for submitting digital competition images.
Jennifer Thompson stated that Club members must be current with their dues, in order to participate in our Quarterly Competitions.
Program at next meeting: The meeting on September 21st will be the results of the Quarterly Print competition.
People’s Choice Contest: Kim Pitcock announced tonight’s winners: 3rd – John Neel, 2nd – Chuck Shealy, and 1st – Phil Cope. The theme was parallel lines. The theme next month is
50/50: Darrel Joseph won $27.50 in the 50/50.
Bragging Rights: Phil Cope attended the 100th celebration of the National Park Service. The officials saw his photos of the event and requested copies, which he provided to them on a DVD. The officials recognized Phil as an Honorary Volunteer.
Guests: Steve Rondeau visited tonight.
New Members: Mark Phillips and Jeff Scott joined the Club tonight.
Program: The results of the 3rd Quarter Digital Competition were presented tonight. The judge was present and commented on the images.
