JACKSONVILLE CAMERA CLUB
MINUTES OF MEETING # 16 – AUGUST 17, 2016
The second meeting of August 2016, was held at Shepherd of the Woods Retreat Center, 6595 Columbia Park Court, Jacksonville, FL 32258-2414.
Business Meeting
Gordon Ira, President, called the meeting to order at 7:05 P.M.
Gordon Ira reviewed the dates for upcoming competitions, outings, and events.
Gordon Ira discussed the following:
— Prints for the next Quarterly competition can be turned in at both September meetings.
— The Still Life outing, led by Darrel Joseph, will be held on August 20th at 9 a.m., at our meeting location.
— There will be an outing at Washington Oaks on September 17th. High tide should occur near sunrise.
— The LPIG will meet on August 24th and August 30th.
— The Club will explore the potential for having shirts with a Club logo. Don Dymer will do research on this.
— A nominating committee will be appointed at the next meeting.
— The Christmas Party will be at Browyn and Kris Horvath’s home, on December 10th.
— Gail Means will take over the Club’s Facebook page.
— There was a Board meeting on August 13th. The Board approved having the Awards Banquet at the Jacksonville Golf and Country Club. The Board adopted the Club Logo, currently on the website, as the official Club logo. Richard Bryce has been appointed as the Club Librarian.
Young McQueen, Webmaster, stated that he will have a laptop at the August 20th outing and will be available to assist anyone with website issues. He encouraged members to do a “trial run” of entering an image for the digital competition. A tutorial is available on the website. He will provide a high definition copy of the new logo to anyone who requests it.
Jennifer Thompson , Membership chair, reminded the members that club annual dues are due.
Charise Tanner, Digital Competition Chair, stated that the revised submission dates for the next quarterly competition are August 20th – September 16th .
Program at next meeting: The meeting on September 7th will be the results of the Quarterly Digital competition. The judge is scheduled to attend the meeting.
People’s Choice Contest: Kim Pitcock announced tonight’s winners: 3rd – Betsy Raiford, 2nd – Phil Cope, and 1st – Robert Clark. The theme was Letters of the Alphabet. The theme next month is parallel lines.
50/50: John Neel won $26 in the 50/50.
Bragging Rights: Robert Clark entered an image in the annual competition sponsored by Photo Forum magazine. His image was selected in the first round, which included 13% of 64,000 entries.
Guests: Matt & Birgit Mercer visited tonight.
New Members: Deborah Campbell and Dan Sanchez joined the Club tonight.
Program: The program was a Blind Critique Night organized by Young McQueen. Club member Chuck Shealy commented on all the images.
