The ruins are set in a mature tree park that offers unique lighting situations with the dappled sunlight through the trees playing off of the the coarse textured walls.
John McIntosh's Sugar Works built in the late 1820s, is an example of tabby concrete construction found in heavier southeastern plantation buildings. The ruin's blocky rectangular remains present both vertical and horizontal features offering, along with the light, interesting compositional possibilities.

We will meet at the park entrance at 9:00. There will be no organized events.
You may photograph at the park at your leisure. We will reconvene at the park entrance at 11:30.
Gear
The remains of the Works are the bones of the original building and offer various sizes and shapes. Wide angle, 14 mm through 35 mm primes and 24/70mm zooms will work well here. Longer Zooms such as a 70/300mm will also fit here.
The lighting could call for tripod use depending on lighting but regardless tripod use here will help guarantee detail.
This setting is made for infrared if you can use it.

Directions
I 95 N to Exit 1 in Georgia, St Mary's Rd.
Follow the signs for St Marys / Submarine Base Kings Bay. The park is on the opposite side of the street from the main gate to the Navel base. Continue on and make a u turn at the first opportunity. Continue to park parking lot on the right.
