FCCC JUDGES WORKSHOP
Dr. Christine Cook, FCCC Digital Director, leads a class on elements in judging photography. If you are interested in becoming a local or state judge and/or if you would like to know what criteria judges use to rate photos, this class will allow you an inside look at judging!

Notes
Changes: There will be two sessions, morning and afternoon. The morning session will be for everyone and will focus on what the judge looks for in a photo. This session will include lunch and is $30. There are openings available in the morning session.
If you are in the morning session, please leave the meeting room before 1p.m. so the afternoon session will begin on time. Thank You.
The second session is structured for members striving to become judges at a local and state level. The fee for this class will be $50 (includes lunch). There are no seats available in the judges class (we had a max. from Dr. Cook).
Please email JCC.outings@gmail.com. if you plan to attend to place your name on the list. Checks made to JCC should be given to Gordon Ira at the next meeting. Please make sure your name is on his attendance list and marked "paid".
The class begins at 9A.M. with a break at 12ish for a delivered lunch. The afternoon sessions will be 3-4 hours with follow-up review.
Please bring note taking supplies.
If you could help set up tables and chairs at 8:30a.m.
and reset the sanctuary after class, it would be appreciated.
Curriculum
This training Session will be interactive and include PowerPoint images and information, ample audience participation and interaction, practice scoring and giving feedback.
Participant Objectives
- Participants will use specific criteria of quality images based on the literature to judge and score photographic images.
- Participants will use a scoring scheme in a way that utilizes a wide range in order to differentiate quality between images.
- Participants will know how to give feedback to makers in a positive and constructive way that explains the scores they earned.

Brief Biography of Instructor
Dr. Christine Cook is a photographer, Florida Master Naturalist and educator. She has a doctorate in Education from Kent State University where she minored in Curriculum and Instruction. In the field of education for 35 years, Dr. Cook was an adjunct professor at nearby colleges while serving as teacher and administrator in programs for children with special needs. She continues to utilize her education background by teaching photography composition and post-processing, and presenting on various topics in photography.
Dr. Cook is an accomplished photographer and has received many awards in local, state and international competitions. She is founder and director of a photography group where the focus is on exploration of the artistic and creative aspects of photography. She is also the Director of Digital Competition for the Florida Camera Club Council. Through training with the Photographic Society of America, extensive research and mentorship, she has developed judging skills that have qualified her to judge at local, state and international levels.
