Jacksonville Camera Club Meeting Minutes for February 21, 2018 at SOTW

Brian Leonard opened meeting at 7:03 p.m.

First order of business:

Digital Update Q1 Presentation and Q2 submissions – Jan Vallely – Brian spoke on Jan Vallely’s behalf about the 2nd Qtr. Digital Competition to open on March 1 thru March 31.

Charisse Tanner wanted to thank the club for giving her a birthday card Silias sent it around. Dan Robosto has had a bad fall since the last meeting. Happened the night at the last meeting before he got home.

Website – Young McQueen – Young spoke on the plug-in, Nik, that you could use it as a stand alone and that it had been sold to Google and it was free and then Google abandoned and DxO you can download it for free. Young will be placing it in the Blog post on the JCC Website on how to download.
The Digital submission of images can be tested it to see how it works. Will go live on March 1st. Program resizing and cropping will much easier and will be putting up a web post soon.

Outings – Olustee – February 17th – John Neel – Brian spoke about the outing to Olustee outing.
St. Augustine Celtic Festival Outing – Sylvia Agreda-Koskin – March 10th – 9:30 a.m. – purchase tickets thru website. County Fairgrounds.
Mike Rexroad – thanked everyone that submitted pictures from the Olustee outing.

May 4&5 John Reed – Friday night met at church and then meeting John at the Zoo on the 5th and then May 16th John will be program presenter
May – Dudley Farms
June – Sunrise at Boneyard
July – Kathy Jarwoski – group portriature – that is the title right now could change
August – Antique Mall- Phillips and Baymeadows
September – Jacksonville Architecture- downtown Jax & Friendship Fountain
October – Franklin, N.C. – high priority on getting infor out
November – St. Augustine Pirates
December – Christmas Lights

Brian requested volunteers for outings leaders in real need for them. Dudley Farms is a great place to get antics, animals and people.

Glennie Competition – Craig Sheir – Showed some of the images that was submitted for Glennie. A total of 70 images but only 10 allowed to be submitted. Rick Hartmann, Darryl Joseph, and Charisse Tanner where the judges that scored the images.

Print Competition – John Neel – Last Night to turn in Q1 prints – There was a lot of good feed back on how to simplify the process and had no real issues in the prints being submitted and if there was he had taken care of it. Got a lot of images from the Olustee outing for this print competition.

Brian – Announced that Courtney Fox, one of our members, was taking up donated images again for the Silent Audition for the Salvation Army. Courtney informed the club that the images that were submitted last year had raised over $1,000.00.

Olustee outing could go to the state’s website and post your images there. Gail Means said that getting positive feedback on JCC’s Facebook on the images from Olustee outing.
Business cards are out back at the sign in area.

F3C Information Competitions and News – Julius Dean – Spoke last before doing presentation on “Cuba”. Asked if anyone was going to Ft. Myers, March 9-11, 2018 – 2 members are going. Blue Ribbons are harder to achieve and red ribbons, and white ribbons, yellow ribbons for 2018, if anyone gets 12 Blue Ribbons scored they are also doing an Florida Excellent Awards as of this year and it is a cumulative award for the number of ribbons per person that are winners. It would look good to have received this award on a resume or bio. Club did well came around with 8 ribbons.

Program for tonight – February 21st – CUBA – Julius Dean – Everything You Wanted to Know About Cuba – the do’s and don’ts of shooting in Havana
