Falling Creek Falls

2022-07 Falling Creek Falls JK (2)-L

THIS OUTING HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO EXTENSIVE STORM DAMAGE IN THE BOARDWALK AND WATERFALL AREA.

A gentile walk along a boardwalk in a bluff forest ends with a spectacular in a deeply wooded setting. The well-built boardwalk winds through a bluff forest of bald cypress, sweetgum, and magnolia. The spectacular root-beer-colored cascade plummets nearly twelve feet over a deep lip of limestone.

The site offers many photographic opportunities of the dramatic colorful waterfall and rapids.

The trail is circular. open and flat for those who wish to walk the one mile distance around to the parking lot with many photo opportunities along the way.

We will then move to the abandoned Suwanee Springs Bridge–also referred to by locals as The Bridge to Nowhere–unique is that over the past decade or so, it has become an ever-changing canvas for graffiti.

The road 93rd Drive ends right at the bridge, where we will park and walk around the barrier to look and photograph the bridge and graffiti.
