Digital Contest — Rules & Guidelines

Macro or closeup - Small made large. Insects and flowers are great subjects, but our world is abundant with small objects, natural and man-made.

Cars. trains, buses, bikes, etc, but nothing that leaves the ground.   Animals used for transportation only if they are shown in a transportation role. For example horse with a saddle and/or rider or attached to a carriage, cart, etc.

Selective focus is the technique of focusing the camera on your subject while rendering the rest of the image out of focus. It helps to bring the attention of the viewer to the subject.

Nature is the same category as we have in the print competitions, and the same rules apply.  Most importantly, there is no intrusion of man or the hand of man. This category is ever changing. We just follow the PSA guidelines. Read them here and assume the judge did too.

All forms of plant life.  Flowers, Trees, Grasses, Weeds, etc. Natural or cultivated all work.

There are numerous ways of dealing with motion in photography.  You can freeze the action with a high shutter speed (or a speed light), or you can let it blur with a slow shutter speed.  All methods are acceptable here.  The only restriction is that that primary subject(s) be in motion.
