February 2021: Beach Sunrise at River to Sea Preserve and Garden

We are returning to the River to Sea Preserve for sunrise shooting among the Coquina Rock formations on the beach. For those wishing to photograph the sunrise, we will meet at the south end of the River to Sea parking lot next to Marineland at 6:30 AM and proceed to the beach area. Restrooms are available at the parking lot. There is a walkway and handrails at the south end of the boardwalk providing a pathway down to the beach. The rocks start south of the stairs.

Sunrise is at 7 AM with low tide at about 9:10 AM. High tide follows at 1:50 PM.

The River to Sea Preserve is located approximately .1 mile past Marineland on A1A south.

We will proceed to Washington Oaks Garden state park. The park’s focus are the formal gardens but there are many additional shooting opportunities found on the hiking trails and other interior areas within the landside areas of the park. The Beachside of the park offers beach access and parking with Coquina rock formations on the beach.

The park is located at 6400 N Oceanshore Blvd (A1A) Palm Coast, FL. About 2 miles south of Marineland. Garden entrance is on the west side of A1A, Beach entrance is on the east side of A1A directly across from each other

Entrance fee to the park is $5.00. Please use the honor box where no attendant is present to pay fees. Limit is 8 people per vehicle. Vehicle pass instructions are on the fee envelope.

Equipment security needs to be emphasized here. Particularly at the beaches parking areas. There have been incidents (none recently) where cars have been broken into. As noted in last year’s outing at these locations, make your gear choices before you arrive.
