Events: Re-enactors will be in period attire, carrying mock artillery that shoot blanks during a battle. There will be authentic military camps and drills, color ceremonies, period music concerts, crafts, exhibits, food and much more. The re-enactment of the Civil War-era battle and canon firing with soldiers on horses is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
This event is a great history lesson for the entire family. This is one of the best re-enactments and the only local one (relatively speaking). The re-enactors are very serious about authentic everything, clothing, weapons, knowing the history and speaking the language of the era.
Please let Rebecca know if you are interested in carpooling and she will see if anyone else is interested. If we do not carpool or caravan we will see each other on the battlefield. Rebecca will be leaving for Olustee at 6:30 am to get there by 7:30 am to catch the good light. She will be leaving about 12:00 pm. That is a long day for her healing knee. There will be many people attending this event and arriving early will help to get better photos before the crowd number grows. Places to eat lunch in the country are few and far between. Therefore, lunch break is not planned. There will be many vendors at the battlefield or plan to bring a lunch.
