This 40-acre garden is home to more than 3,000 native and hybrid azaleas, which explode into a colorful palette of pinks, reds, lavendars and whites each Spring. Additional plantings include 2,000 trees and shrubs that provide an array of foliage and blooms throughout the year. With wide walking paths that criss-cross the hillside gardens, the Callaway Brothers Azalea Bowl is a delightful spot for a leisurely stroll in any season.

In the Cecil B. Day Butterfly Center typically 1,000 or more butterflies flutter freely about in one of North America’s largest tropical butterfly conservatories. The Day Butterfly Center is a living, dynamic, glass-enclosed environment in which a variety of tropical plants nourish the residents and new arrivals emerge from their chrysalides, dry their wings and begin their very first wing-beats.

Notes:

Call Callaway before your trip to get expected bloom dates.
We found the vegetable gardens and horticulture center
closed on our last trip.  You might want to inquire which
sections of the park are closed.
F.D.Roosevelt State Park is close and a good location for
camping and cabins.   Warm Springs and other local
towns offer good photography subjects.
