Schedule of Events
Arrive as early as you like dawn. Many of us plan to stay in the area near the parking lot, starting at 7:30 am. It will be easy to find each other, even if the area is busy.
Our photo targets for this trip are migratory birds (and anything else, including resident birds, butterflies, wildflowers, etc). In recent years there have been many birds in the trees surrounding the parking lot, and on the paths with 30 yards of the lot. It is not unreasonable to spend your entire visit withing 200 feet of your car!
On the other had, the preserve is 102 acres with wide, mowed paths and a long fishing pier on the St John's River, so there is more to see if you want.
Expected migrants include: Northern Yellow Warbler, Prairie Warbler, Cape May Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, American Redstart, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Palm Warbler, Northern Parula, and White-eyed Vireo.
Year-round residents include: Northern Mockingbird, Northern Cardinal, Eastern Bluebird, Gray Catbird, Red-shouldered Hawk, Downy Woodpecker, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Pileated Woodpecker, Common Ground Dover, Mourning Dove, Eastern Phoebe, and many more.
You may also find herons, egrets, gulls, and terns, cormorants, and others along the river.

Other Tips
You will want a telephoto lens (300mm or more is recommended, though 200 could suffice at times). A tripod or monopod can be useful, and even a chair or stool if there are lots of birds near the parking lot.
Bring bug spray and water and good walking shoes (even for standing around).
Directions
Navigate to University Blvd N, the proceed north past Merrill Road and Ft Caroline Rd. Yachtsman Way will be on your right. There is a small city marker for Reddie Point on the right (the same intersection has a marker for Arlington Lions Club Park on the left.)
Turn right on Yachtsman Way, in a short distance you will see the entrance to Reddie Point on your left. Follow the park road to the parking lot.
