Jacksonville Camera Club General Meeting Minutes
Shepherd of the Woods, 7860 Southside Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32256
Date: July 18, 2024
President Ted Floore called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m.
Ted stated that we need a volunteer to organize the end of year social on December 19th.
Ted stated that volunteers are needed for a Nominating Committee, as well as volunteers for Officer positions next year. The positions of President and Vice President definitely need to be filled by different people.
Ted asked for a volunteer to audit the 2023 books. Jim Angelo volunteered to do this.
Ted mentioned that Mary Hoskins is making progress in her recovery from hip surgery.
An F3C digital competition is active at this time.
The Club will not have outings in July and August due to the hot weather.
Ted stated that there will be two zoom programs that Club members can access from home. On August 6 there will be a zoom program on iPhone photography, and on August 20 there will be one on Bird Photography. Members will be provided with further information on accessing these programs. This is in coordination with the Beaches and St. Augustine Clubs.
Bill McSherry led a discussion about future awards in our digital competitions, asking if people wanted to continue to receive ribbons for awards, or possibly have certificates as awards. Some members indicated that a change would be acceptable. Some members commented that ribbons for Annual competitions are desirable.
People’s Choice – The July awards were: Ernst Mistr, 3rd, Jim Angelo, 2nd, Irene Ward, 1st.
Raffle 50/50: $18 collected, $9 went to the Club and to a member.
