Beluthahatchee Park, was designed by Florida Hall of Fame inductee, journalist, and author, Stetson Kennedy, as a peaceful haven that connects man with nature.

The park consists of many types of vegetation including southern magnolia, laurels, pignut hickory and gargantuan oak trees.  The property is also home to herons, egrets, eagles, ducks, and grackles.

Stetson Kennedy's writing career started in 1942 with the book, Palmetto Country, followed by other notable works. His writings centered around human rights issues receiving many awards throughout his time as an author.

His legacy also impacted many, including musician, Woody Guthrie. Guthrie admitted he composed more than 80 songs during his stay as a house guest at Beluthahatchee mostly highlighting human rights issues.
