JCC Photography Contests
You will love the variety of contest sponsored by the Jacksonville Camera Club. There is something for everyone. This page details both the contests sponsored by the JCC and contests that you may enter as a JCC member. Read on.
Print Contest – Triannual
Triannually, the club holds a print contest based on three unchanging categories: People, Nature and General. Within the rules of these thematic categories the photographer is free to submit a variety of different work.
Digital Contest – Triannual
Triannually, the club holds a digital photo contest, based on three selected themes. Throughout the year a variety of different themes challenge members to stretch their photographic range. Past and present themes include: Backyard Birds, Composite Photos, Monochrome, Night Photography, Architectural views, JCC outings and Events, Macrophotography, Ghost Images, HDR, and Photojournalism.
Monochrome Print
Contest – Annual
Annually, the club holds a monochrome print contest based on three unchanging categories: People, Nature and General. Within the rules of these thematic categories the photographer is free to submit a variety of different work.
People's Choice – Monthly
Monthly club contests are centered around constantly changing themes like Funny Signs, That’s Love, Dutch Angle, Music, Weather and Parallel Lines. This gives photographers a chance to take different types of pictures and improve their photography skills. Pictures are judged by the meeting attendees and first, second and third place certificates are awarded.
Digital Contest – Annual
At the end of each year, the winning photographs from each digital contest are judged against each other. Ten photographs are selected and ranked as the best photos of the year. These photos are displayed and awarded at the annual JCC Banquet.
Print Contest – Annual
At the end of each year, the winning photos from each print and monochrome contest are judged and the top photos in the People, Nature, and General Categories are ranked and awarded. These prints are displayed and awarded at the annual JCC Banquet.
Florida Camera Club Council Contests
JCC competes against 50 other Florida camera clubs in three yearly competitions sponsored by the Florida Camera Club Council. This competition includes color categories for both beginners and advanced photographers in addition to Monochrome, Creative and Documentary categories. An annual Year- End competition determines the best pictures of the year from the winners of each photo category.
Outing Contests
Outing leaders may choose to run competitions focused on pictures from individual outings. Previous contests included pictures taken at Dudley Farms, the Jacksonville Zoo and an orchid nursery.
Other Contest
These are unplanned but can include a joint effort with another organization or just an idea that is submitted by a member. The St. Johns County Library Photo Contest of 2014 is an example.
